Darya Fasihi Jumel

Born in Brussels in 1991 to Franco-Iranian heritage, Darya Fasihi Jumel is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the realms of psychology, visual arts, and social activism. With academic foundations in psychology, plastic arts, and art history, her practice delves deep into the human psyche, exploring themes of trauma, resilience, and identity.

In France, Darya engaged with exiled communities from Afghanistan and Africa, utilizing art as a medium for expression and healing. Her commitment to art therapy took a profound turn during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war when she returned to Armenia to support soldiers and their families. Collaborating with military hospitals and the NGO Frontline Therapists, she facilitated workshops that provided safe spaces for participants to process their experiences through creative expression.

Darya's artistic approach is characterized by spontaneity and introspection. She often employs everyday objects, deformed and irrational, to create symmetrical and multiple forms on her canvases.

Her work reflects her personal moods and beliefs, offering a childlike yet profound perspective on the world. Inspired by the visual architecture of Yerevan, she incorporates elements like rectangular wall bricks and chaotic street compositions into her art, capturing the city's essence.

Her artworks have been featured in various exhibitions, including "My Soul In Exile" at the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art in Yerevan (2024) and the group exhibition "Right About Now" at ArtKvartal, Yerevan (2024) . Through her multifaceted practice, Darya continues to explore the intersections of art, therapy, and social commentary, offering a unique lens into the complexities of human experience.
