Khachik Yeghikyan

Khachik Yeghikyan (b. 1990) is an Armenian multidisciplinary artist whose creative journey has been marked by transformation, introspection, and reinvention. A graduate of the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts (2007–2012), he initially dedicated himself to painting but took an unexpected hiatus in 2016, stepping away from art entirely.

During this period, Yeghikyan explored various disciplines, immersing himself in 3D animation and, later, in the profound practice of yoga. His years of meditation and self-discovery reshaped his perception of creativity and personal freedom. Though he once believed he would never return to painting, an unforeseen moment in 2023 reignited his artistic drive, leading him to embrace painting, photography, and electronic music with renewed intensity.

Yeghikyan’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in sincerity, self-exploration, and the constant pursuit of truth, both in life and on the canvas. His works navigate the space between the visible and the subconscious, often blurring the lines between abstraction and form.

Layered textures, dynamic compositions, and a vibrant yet intuitive color palette characterize his paintings, reflecting his ongoing dialogue between inner experience and external expression. His photography, in turn, captures fleeting moments of light and shadow, while his electronic music serves as an auditory extension of his visual world—an exploration of rhythm, silence, and emotion.

For Yeghikyan, art is not a static practice but a process of continuous evolution, shaped by the rhythms of life itself.

There is a subtle yet significant moment in Khachik’s story—a creative vacuum—when art ceased to be a necessary part of his life, and the ensuing emptiness was filled with the study of yoga. This pause divides the artist’s journey and our gallery into two distinct parts. The transition between "before" and "after" is intentionally abrupt, and at times it seems almost unbelievable that the works from these two phases belong to the same artist. It’s as if, after a long silence, his creativity burst forth in an unexpected explosion of vibrant colors and large-scale compositions.
In just two years, one creative phase replaced another, each canceling out the previous one, while at the same time returning to earlier explorations. Unexpectedly, Khachik’s first post-academic period is reflected in one of his more recent phases, and the newest works in the exhibition harmonize with the meditative pieces that immediately followed his "great pause." Yet in this succession, life doesn’t form a closed circle but rather a spiral, with each new transition unfolding on a higher emotional plane.
In this journey, your main guide is the artist himself. He wants you to see his path through his own eyes. But is that even possible? Can we truly set aside our perspectives and dissolve entirely into someone else’s gaze?
We’ll find out today. Welcome to Khachik Yeghikyan’s solo retrospective, The Whole.
